October 17, 2013—Wake Up, America!

America sleeps uneasy because of its looming debt crisis that the powers that be seem to be ignoring. Actually, there is a more important threat—literally an existential threat—that the powers that be are also ignoring, in spite of numerous signs of its clear and present danger. Unless Americans wake up and demand that their elected leaders provide for the common defense, a manmade or natural electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event could lead to the death of several hundred million American. August 28, 2013—About that Reset . . .

In 1785, Robert Burns wrote To a Mouse, on Turning Her Up in Her Nest with the Plough, which contained these famous words: “The best laid schemes of mice and men go often awry, and leave us nothing but grief and pain for promised joy!” Those words aptly describe the misplaced confidence in the Obama administration’s touted “reset” strategies on a number of fronts—and lay a challenge for new “resets” to replace them.

June 4, 2013—Tilting to Northeast Asia

On the 24th anniversary of Tiananmen Square and the eve of President Obama’s meeting with China’s President Xi Jiaping, it is important that the “powers that be” realize that military-to-military exchanges with China are no substitute for underwriting a needed “Peace through Strength” policy in Northeast Asia with serious defense programs second to none.

April 1, 2013 – April Fool . . . or For Any Other Time?

Last Friday, North Korea threatened to attack the U.S. and its military bases in South Korea and the Pacific—after two U.S. nuclear-capable stealth bombers dropped dummy munitions in joint military drills with South Korea—in response to earlier North Korean testing and threats of a preemptive attack on the U.S. Stay tuned to this “tit for tat” game. Unwise? You think?
