June 6, 2017—Too Little, Too Late?

USAF General John Hyten, Commander of United States Strategic Command, testified on May 9th that North Korea now has the range capability to strike the United States with a ballistic missile. “It is a matter of physics and math.” DIA Director Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart testified on May 23rd that the only hurdle left for it to attack the U.S with nuclear weapons is finding a way for its ballistic missile to re-enter the atmosphere, which he said is “really a matter of enough trial and error to make that work . . . They understand the physics, so it’s just a matter of design.” Read Full Story

“. . . Congress should look at EMP attacks as one of the three great threats to our survival, the other two being cyber warfare and nuclear weapons. And they should regard all three as catastrophic. For us to survive as a civilization we have to be able to defeat all three . . . [Not to do so is] gambling with our civilization . . . ” Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich at the May 4, 2017 Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Hearing on EMP and Policy Options to Protect the Grid. “I appreciate the urging that we not let our guard down … recognizing that this [threat] is complicated and multifaceted … truly daunting … and that we need to start out locally … It is important that we in congress be reminded of the urgency and imperative of our task and I think we were given that message this morning. ” Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) Chairlady of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee at the conclusion of a Hearing on EMP and policy options to protect the grid. “CIPA implements one of the most important recommendations of the EMP Commission to prevent societal mass destruction. It directs the Department of Homeland Security to establish new national planning scenarios focused on protecting and recovering the nation from an EMP catastrophe. “There’s a very, very dangerous decision being made today by the Federal] Energy [Regulatory] Commission on how we protect ourselves from electromagnetic pulse [EMP]. It is being designed as stupidly and as destructively as possible . . . If I were [President Trump] it’s one of the things I would literally repeal late tomorrow . . .” Newt Gingrich on Fox and Friends, January 19, 2017 Read Full Story

December 6, 2016—Lessons to Avoid Another Day that Will Live in Infamy.

The United States has always responded to major threats, but usually after the danger is obvious essentially to all—often after a rude awakening like at Pearl Harbor in the dawn’s early light 75 years ago tomorrow. Still, even that threat was foreseen and clearly identified by Billy Mitchell and others, but America’s leaders ignored, some even ridiculed, that warning—though others began important advance preparations for the war that was to come. In those years, oceans separated our country from those who sought to do us harm and technology was such that time was permitted for preparations and response. Read Full Story

“The best laid schemes of mice and men go often awry, and leave us nothing but grief and pain for promised joy!” ~ Robert Burns, 1785. Those words aptly describe the misplaced confidence the Obama administration placed in its touted “reset with Russia,” “strategic patience” and “leading from behind” strategies on a number of fronts, especially in the Middle East — and lay challenges for new “resets” to replace them. “The Russians had developed what they called the ‘‘super-EMP’’ weapon that could generate fields in the range of 200 kilovolts per meter. And we had seen in other open literature that the Russians appeared to be using that figure as an upper bound for the kind of EMP that could be produced by nuclear weapons. So, we weren’t surprised, too surprised, to see it. They also told us that both there were Russian and other technologists, engineers and scientists, who were working with North Korea and receiving Western wages, they emphasized, helping North Korea with the design of its nuclear weapons. So, we found it extremely interesting in talking to them.” ~ Dr. William R. Graham, 2008 Testimony to the House Armed Services Committee Read Full Story
