As reported last week, High Frontier participated in the January 12-13 South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention at the Springfield Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach. Amb. Cooper’s briefing charts were attached to last week’s report and his full presentation can be viewed by clicking here.   It is also posted on our webpage.

The  Convention organizers will be sending an abbreviated version of the entire two-day conference to every member of the new Congress, and we hope to forward this entire program to you once it is finalized. Hopefully, this effort will prove to be helpful to many members of the House and Senate as they seek “to provide for the common defense” as they have just sworn to do.

Furthermore, High Frontier’s participation was very important, as was the participation of several other colleagues on a panel that emphasized to the Tea Party community the importance of their support for sound national security policies.  Please click here to watch that panel discussion.  The Tea Party usually focuses on the need to get the nation’s  economic/fiscal activities until control . . . a focus with which we also agree.

However, we believe that the Tea Party’s greatest political power can be mustered if it adopts the Reagan “tree legged stool” which framed its efforts to reflect sound fiscal, social and national security policies.

This broader focus is particularly important to our efforts to counter the EMP threat posed by either natural causes (from large clouds of electric charges from the sun that may peak in the near future) or from nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran, other rogue states or terrorists. In the later case, note the recent (and unsurprising) news that Iran recently  refused to accept the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) plan to inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities and postponed nuclear talks with the West.  The Iranian regime is in no rush to restrain its nuclear program despite deepening sanctions, as we have previously noted  . . . and is pressing on in its development of nuclear weapons.

Related sobering issues were recently discussed by Reza Kahlili, a pseudonym for an ex-CIA spy who requires anonymity for safety reasons.  (Kahlili describes his double-life as a CIA agent in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in A Time to Betray, published by Threshold Editions, Simon & Schuster, April 2010 . . . which received the 2010 National Best Book Award and the 2011 International Best Book Award.) He is also featured in Ambassador Cooper’s Myrtle Beach briefing.

As reported last week, some of these good folks in Myrtle Beach volunteered to help us engage folks in the Panama City area of the Florida panhandle to help build grass roots support for building an Aegis Ashore site on either Tyndall or Eglin Air Force Base, to deal with “the manmade” EMP threat from nuclear-armed ballistic missiles launched from vessels in the Gulf of Mexico — or from Venezuela. And others volunteered to help us overcome the “powers that be” . . . who, in the past two congresses, blocked protective measures for the electric power grid to counter solar-induced EMP, and to back up the missile defenses in countering nuclear-induced EMP.

Hopefully, our supporters will grow in interest and numbers . . . and will provide the support we will need to travel to Florida several times in the next several months.

Please give us your feedback on our plans and any suggestions on how we might best make our case in a timely way by e-mailing info@highfrontier.org.  The threat is imminent, as Amb. Cooper emphasized in his January 12 briefing.  If you can help financially to continue this effort, please do so, by clicking clicking here:
