President Obama has claimed that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a “JV Team” (January 27, 2014) that we are going to “degrade and ultimately destroy” (September 10, 2014), that is “now contained” … and “continues to shrink” (November 13, 2015), just hours before coordinated ISIS attacks in Paris, carried out at six sites, in at least two restaurants, the French national soccer stadium and a theater.

Contained??? Really??? Delusional, to be generous!!!

Ryan Crocker — our former Ambassador to Syria, Iraq and Lebanon — also discounts the President’s most recent claim that ISIS is “contained.”

Friday’s attack featured three different jihadi teams backed by a support network stretching across several European nations — bearing a level of operational sophistication and capability not seen since September 11, 2001 when al Qaeda conceived, planned and executed its attack on the United States or the 2005 four-bomb London transport attacks. It was executed by at least seven terrorists. ISIS claimed eight and the leader is reported to have been identified and is being sought in Belgium.

So much for ISIS — that Sunni jihadi group rejected by al Qaeda as being too radical — being called a JV Team.

At least 129 people died in in Paris, including at least one American — at least 352 were injured, 89 in critical condition, according to early reports from the New York Times. It came a day after ISIS suicide bombers in Beirut killed at least 43 people and wounded over 200 more, on the heels of ISIS downing a Russian airliner leaving from Egypt, killing 224 — sabotage by “insider ISIS operatives?”

At least one jihadi killed in Paris held a Syrian passport — a refugee? Click here for more information. Troubling for European leaders, given the tens of thousands of already entered Syrian refugees . . . and some states are refusing to accept more.

Wonder what that means for us, given the hundreds of Syrian refugees already entering the United States — 10,000 this year allegedly ramping up eventually to 65,000 if President Obama has his way?

Opposition is growing. For example, by last evening the Governors of at least 21 states formally opposed additional refugees — sometimes changing their past positions. In my home state, South Carolina, several counties passed resolutions opposing Governor Niki Haley’s previous acceptance of President Obama’s plan — she is now reported to have changed her mind as stated in a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry. To inform such deliberations in your state, remember that FBI Director James Comey reported last February that ISIS had operatives in all 50 states—talk radio hosts are reporting that 900 ISIS operatives are already being followed. Representative Peter King (R-NY), a member of both the House Intelligence and Homeland Security Committees, stated on Fox News Sunday that there is “no real way of vetting, to any extent, these refugees coming in.”

Rep. King and others in Congress think un-vetted refugees should not be permitted to come into the country . . . as do many U.S. citizens as they are making clear to their representatives. The President should rethink his plan to bring such poorly vetted Syrians into America — and come to a full stop until he does. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) essentially agreed on Sunday’s NBC’s Meet the Press. Click here for a video of that entire session. You think???

So, the facts surrounding the Paris attack show that ISIS definitely is not “contained” and not “shrinking.”

Nevertheless — in the context of this busted bubble, the President’s advisors assured him on leaving for the G-20 Summit in Turkey, a few miles from Syria, that there is no threat to America. While acknowledging that “we had no information to contradict the initial French assessment of [ISIS’s] responsibility,” the Los Angeles Times reported that a White House official also briefed that there was “no specific or credible threat to the United States,” and that “we are doing everything necessary to protect the American people.” Feel reassured???

Wow! This “no threat to America” claim is absurd on its face! Numerous counter-examples have been discussed in my regular messages, which you might re-read from our webpage. Rep. King said on Fox News Sunday that he believed the threat was the greatest since September 11, 2001. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Senate Inteligence Committee, said the worst she could recall.

French President Francois Hollande, speaking from the site of one of the attacks, declared on Saturday that France is “going to lead a war which will be pitiless.” Although President Hollande hasn’t announced whether France will seek to invoke Article 5 of the NATO Treaty — “an attack on one is an attack on all,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the alliance would stand with France and remain “strong and united” against terrorism, according to The International Business Times.

It is commendable that President Hollande has referred to the enemy as “jihadist terrorism” a clear step in the right direction. “We are in a war against jihadist terrorism which is threatening the whole world,” he told a packed chamber at the gilded Versailles Palace near Paris on Monday. Parliamentarians gave him a standing ovation before singing the national anthem in a signal of political unity following the worst atrocity in France since World War II.

Meanwhile, President Obama and his spokesmen still can’t bring themselves to identify correctly the threat that is traceable to the ideology of Islamic “true believers” who seek to act on the literal tenets of the Quran in killing the “infidels”— that’s you and me, babe. Bear in mind that they adhere to Sharia Law, which is inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution that the President and all U.S. officials are sworn to uphold.

Andy McCarthy’s “How France Became an Inviting Target of the Jihad” in PJ Media spelled out how the lack of attention to such details helped create the conditions that enabled the Paris attack — others in the West should learn that important lesson.

How will this work out in our relations with Russia — which has its own bone to pick with ISIS, given its downing of that Russian airliner a few weeks ago?

Recall that after withdrawing from his “Red Line” threat re. Syria’s chemical weapons, President Obama effectively turned over leadership to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and retreated to his “leading from behind” posture. (That has not worked out well, as indicated three years later by events this past summer.)

Predictably, President Putin has reinforced Russia’s longstanding alliances with Syria, especially with Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, and Iran’s leaders and those chanting “Death to America.” Meanwhile, President Obama and his supporters in the U.S. Senate agreed to a terrible “Nuclear Deal” with Iran that removes over $100 billion in sanctions, paving the way to a robust Iranian nuclear weapons capability.

Not to worry — see below. Presidents Obama and Putin are at least feigning to be on top of things on the margins of the G-20 Summit in Turkey. (The main course there is supposed to be on economics.) Wonder if they’re discussing the jihadi threat — or Russia’s growing threat to U.S. and NATO security interests as Putin seeks to restore a Russian Empire. Or maybe they’re connected . . . you think?

The G-20 leaders’ joint statement condemned terrorism and pledged to conduct joint action against growing global terrorism as well as choking terror financing channels. Hope this time will be more effective than the “Nuclear Deal” that removed over $100 billion in sanctions that had been limiting Iran’s efforts to obtain a nuclear capability. In President Obama’s comments to the press at the G-20 meeting, he continued his pledge not to engage ISIS on the ground — and he avoided any reference to “radical Islamic” terrorism.

I can’t close this message without a few words on Iran and its relationship with ISIS. ISIS follows Sunni Islam and Iran follows Shia Islam — and they have their differences in Islamic ideology. But on at least one important thing they agree — their hatred for the Little Satan Israel and the Great Satan America. Therefore, they may very well work together to harm us both. In this case, “The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.”

Iran’s leaders do not disguise this reality — and their followers regularly chant in public: “Death to Israel!” and “Death to America!” including on the heels of the Iran Nuclear Deal after the Obama administration “gave away the farm.”

Moreover, Iran has, or will have, the ability to bring an end to our civilization as we know it, by an existential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack. Iran has the delivery means already. They just need nuclear weapons to go on their ballistic missiles or satellites to attack us from our undefended South. Remember that Iran could work together with ISIS (or the Taliban or another of their jihadi fellow travelers) to carry out an EMP attack — e.g., from a vessel off our coasts — particularly from the Gulf of Mexico. More for another day.

But for now, please: “Wake up America.”

Bottom Lines.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reflections are pertinent: “In Israel, as in France, terrorism is terrorism and standing behind it is radical Islam and its desire to destroy its victims. The time has come for the world to wake up and unite in order to defeat terrorism. I call on the entire civilized world to unite to defeat the plague of worldwide terrorism… It’s only with this moral clarity that the forces of civilization will defeat the savagery of terrorism.”

We should stand shoulder to shoulder with France — our oldest ally, who came to our aid at Yorktown during the Revolutionary War. We have stood together ever since, whatever may have been our disagreements.

Together we must learn the reasons for our failures in dealing with the jihad threat to Western Civilization and correct them — beginning with a clear identification of the existential threat that we face, as observed by PM Netanyahu.

Regrettably, our President refuses to take that step for whatever his reason — thereby condemning America to a rudderless drift into the future as he continues his meandering “leading from behind” strategy — if indeed it can be called a strategy. French President Hollande has a better vision of the threat — and we should support him.

Pray for better leadership in another year. We have been here before, most recently with the “malaise” of the late 1970s — and with a new leader, Ronald Reagan, we made our way back to an America that made us proud. Pray we can find a way to repeat that return to the American dream that has previously stirred so many — and kept us free.

Near Term High Frontier Plans.

We will continue to inform our readers of the looming threats we confront—and where appropriate urge them to engage in countering that threat. Our leaders are failing at their sworn duty “to provide for the common defense”

We will press for building the most cost-effective ballistic missile defenses possible and working with South Carolina folks to build a coalition to engage constructively with private citizens and their local and state representatives and other authorities to work with the SC National Guard in understanding and responding to the existential threats to the electric power grid.

We are especially focused on the nuclear power reactors that produce 60 percent of SC electricity—and more generally 20-percent of the nation’s electricity.

If it can be assured that they “operate through” a major blackout of the electric power grid, they can play a very important role for resurrecting it over an extended time and supporting the general public’s survival in the meantime.
