June 30, 2015—ISIS Going Global?

Within a three hours period last Friday, jihadis killed about 60 persons and wounded several hundred others in three nation states. Friday’s attacks in France, Tunisia and Kuwait came days after the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group called for such operations during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan (June 17-July 17). Was this “Bloody Friday” an introduction to more such terrorism during the next several weeks? Within what geographic limits? Within the United States? Something to consider for this Fourth of July? June 23, 2015—Better Defenses: Part Way Back to the Future?

America’s current missile defense strategy is “not sustainable,” according to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Deputy Director USAF Brig. Gen. Kenneth Todorov. As reported by Sydney J. Freedberg in June 18’s Breaking Defense, he correctly emphasized that we can’t keep buying multi-million-dollar interceptors to shoot down adversaries’ ever-growing arsenals of much cheaper offensive missiles; we have to find a better way involving fewer Ground-Based Interceptors (GBIs) and more investment in R&D. June 18, 2015—Volatile New World Disorder!

“. . . Years ago, before the East Germans began rebuilding their churches, they erected a secular structure: the television tower at Alexander Platz. Virtually ever since, the authorities have been working to correct what they view as the tower’s one major flaw, treating the glass sphere at the top with paints and chemicals of every kind. Yet even today when the sun strikes that sphere–that sphere that towers over all Berlin—the light makes the sign of the cross. There in Berlin, like the city itself, symbols of love, symbols of worship, cannot be suppressed. . .” ~ President Ronald Reagan at the Brandenburg Gate, June 12, 1987 Read Full Story

June 9, 2015—Help from the Old Crows!

The name “Old Crows” emerged from the first large-scale use of Electronic Warfare (EW) during the WWII Battle of Britain and the US and allied bombing raids over Europe. The Allied Radar Countermeasure operators used the code name “Ravens” and employed receivers and transmitters to monitor and jam threat frequencies. “Having been created by Islamic supremacism, AQI/ISIS was nurtured by Iran. Notwithstanding the internecine bloodletting that now pits Sunnis against Shiites across the region, Shiite Iran has been the key supporter of both Shiite and Sunni jihadist groups since its revolutionary incarnation as “the Islamic Republic” in 1979. It has backed Sunni al-Qaeda and Hamas, as well as Shiite Hezbollah and a network of Shiite terror cells in Iraq. Its only requirement has been that jihadists of whatever stripe advance Iran’s interests by taking the fight to the U.S. and Israel.” ~ Andrew McCarthy in “Rand Paul has a point about Republicans and ISIS,” National Review, May 30, 2015 Read Full Story

May 19, 2015— Mr. President, Fix The EMP Mess!

“America is not prepared to be without water, electricity, telephones, computer networks, heating, air conditioning, transportation (cars, subways, buses, airplanes), and banking. All the benefits of our just-in-time economy would come to a deadly halt, including the production of petroleum products, clothing, groceries and medicine. Think about cities without electricity to pump water to their residents.” ~ Letter to President Obama from Americans concerned about the America created by a manmade or natural EMP event Read Full Story

April 28, 2015—Nuclear Futures: A Time for Choosing?

“While no one in the Obama administration will say it, and Hillary Clinton will not admit it, Iran’s leaders were eager for the P5+1 discussions. They know President Obama and other world leaders are so eager for a deal that they would be able to secure approval of nuclear weapons and sanctions relief at the same time. Should one rely on the framework—before the details are ironed out—it is no longer a question of whether Iran will have nuclear weapons, but when they will have them.” … Herb London, President of the London Center for Policy Research Read Full Story
