The armistice ending World War I was signed at 5:10 AM in a railroad car in the Forest of Compiegne, northeast of Paris, but it didn’t go into effect until 11 AM — the Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh Month of 1918 — 100 years ago last Sunday.
