April 11, 2013 – All Contingencies Covered – REALLY?

This week, Senior U.S. Officials have stated that our recent missile defense deployments assure that we can shoot down North Koreas ballistic missiles in all contingencies, if they are launched at the U.S. homeland or our troops in the Pacific, e.g., at Guam. But . . . What about one North Korea may actually have been practicing? Read Full Story

April 8, 2013 – Connect the Dots—And Lock the Back Door!

If North Korea wanted to avoid our defenses and create an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) to bring us down to its size how could they do it? Let’s see . . . how about planning to set off a nuclear weapon 300 miles up over Omaha? How about using a satellite and attacking from over the South Pole? Hmmmmmm . . . Read Full Story

Last Friday, North Korea threatened to attack the U.S. and its military bases in South Korea and the Pacific—after two U.S. nuclear-capable stealth bombers dropped dummy munitions in joint military drills with South Korea—in response to earlier North Korean testing and threats of a preemptive attack on the U.S. Stay tuned to this “tit for tat” game. Memories . . . and Things Yet to Be . . .

Next week, we celebrate Ronald Reagan’s March 23, 1983 address that launched his Strategic Defense Initiative. Thanks to SDI and those who’ve braved ridicule to stand with President Reagan, Defense Secretary Hagel could say last Friday that we have an “iron-clad” commitment to missile defense, including for our overseas troops, friends and allies. “How sweet it is!” More to come . . . DoD: U.S. war machine vulnerable to EMP event

F. Michael Maloof, a former senior Department of Defense security policy analyst, discusses a little known 2011 Army War College study that concludes the Defense Department will be hard-pressed to respond in any meaningful way to a catastrophic failure of the civilian electric grid infrastructure due to an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event, whether natural or man-made. March 11, 2013 – Yogi Berra opined, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it” . . . but, which way to go?

As observed in our past several email reports, there are two sources for an existential EMP threat: one natural and one manmade. This week, there were press reports of current events related to both—but with the exception of World Net Daily’s report of Scandinavia’s interest in current solar storms, none emphasized the EMP threat.
