Rep. Jeff Duncan Stands With Us!

Duncan, as a Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Caucus, Rep. Duncan hopes to bring more attention to this very serious issue and to improve grid security, including co-sponsoring legislation to provide hardware solutions to protect the grid against EMP. As he observed, “It is vital to our national security that the United States homeland does not remain vulnerable to an EMP attack.”

January 7, 2015—2015 Priorities

The nation’s nuclear power plants are both: 1) A serious hazard to all Americans if not protected—and alternatively, 2) If they are protected, an important countermeasure because they can play a major role in recovering the electric grid if it fails from either a natural or manmade electromagnetic pulse (EMP) event—or from other threats, such as from physical or cyber attacks.

Challenge for 2015

If we lose the electric grid for an indefinite period, the loss of electricity would bring our “just in time economy” to a full stop—with dire consequences for all Americans. Most would die within a year.
