As the mainstream media’s awareness of threats to the electric power grid grows and recent weather reminds us of even worse events that will happen, the powers that be need to develop ways to shield against them. These threats extend from physical attacks, to cyber attacks, to natural and manmade electromagnetic pulse events that could take down the grid for an indefinite period of time, during which several hundred million Americans could perish.

Recent press accounts illustrate the mainstream media’s growing awareness of threats to the electric power grid and the need to counter them. These threats extend from physical attacks, to cyber attacks, to natural and manmade electromagnetic pulse events that could take down the grid for an indefinite period of time, during which several hundred million Americans could perish. We must connect the dots and deploy needed countermeasures!
Several important news reports highlight the growing awareness of manmade and natural electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threats and the importance of hardening the currently vulnerable electric power grid to these and other effects. And the growing social media outlets are also highlighting these concerns as well as the companion growing threat from Iran.
The State of the Union Address was notable in that it provided nothing new—and misrepresented a number of important matters. The President’s threat to veto legislation calling for sanctions on Iran if they do not cease their development of nuclear weapons was extremely counterproductive and raises the stakes for assuring as quickly as possible that we defend against Iranian ballistic missiles that could create an existential electromagnetic pulse (EMP).
Last Saturday evening on Fox News, Judge Jeanine Pirro summarized my concerns perfectly in her five minute monologue on the existential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threat and the incredibly “reckless and irresponsible” Washington establishment which has for years known about this problem and taken no effective measures to deal with it. As argued in my last message at the South Carolina Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach, I believe that private citizens must get involved, educate themselves and work with their local, state and federal authorities to counter this existential threat to all Americans—and the National Guard can play an important role.
Last Monday at the South Carolina Tea Party Convention in Myrtle Beach, I discussed important contributions that the SC National Guard, citizens and local, state and federal authorities could make together to counter the existential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threat to all Americans—and challenged Tea Party members from SC and other states to get involved to help make it happen.
After reviewing our previous messages on the EMP threat from space posed by North Korea and Iran (associated with instabilities in the Middle East), we update our concerns about Russia and especially China. The bad news: Chinese belligerence is growing and includes threats to our critically important space systems. The good news: Space Command is considering new architectures to be more survivable with capabilities that only can be provided by space-based defenses.
Resolve: We will proactively work with grass roots citizens and the local, state and federal “powers that be” to understand and respond effectively to the existential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threat, particularly as delivered by ballistic missiles launched from vessels off our coasts, especially from the Gulf of Mexico; we will focus on empowering the National Guard to lead critically important efforts to achieve integrated measures for prevention and response.
High Frontier participated in the January 12-13 Tea Party Coalition Convention at the Springfield Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. In particular, Amb. Cooper discussed the electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threat and what can be done to counter it, as has been described in our previous three email reports. Many of the several hundred attendees indicated […]
On October 22, 1962, President Kennedy announced the Soviets were deploying nuclear weapons in Cuba. In those 13 days of crisis, we were closer to the brink of nuclear holocaust than we then realized. Now we could face a new crisis from the south—from ballistic missiles launched from ships in the Gulf of Mexico or Venezuela.
